I was saying the same thing at the same point in time last Sunday about all of this…..it was bad form and he should learn from it. That all changed by a day or two later when a gross pattern showed up.

I’m still a little leery of taking a comment from the past, even just 10 years back. But, this quickly went from being “a comment”.

Only thing I simply don’t understand was Dungy’s point that he was attacking Smiths character….ummmm….no he wasn’t. He was attacking a specific physical characteristic that isn’t character and not indicative of anything from Smith that Gruden wasn’t agreeing with.

But….back to the point. Here you bring a much better example of defense of Gruden from black men. Rison is just simply laughable.

It was impertinent to whatever issue Gruden had with Smith.

Whatever that issue was I’m sure I could understand it. This was a very heated time with the new CBA being worked out.

But, he wasn’t attacking the issue, he wasn’t even attacking character. He was attacking something wholly unrelated to the issue or Smiths character.

That’s not clearly and deliberately racist, I’ll give it that. But, it’s not right at all, either.

Multiple people have came and said Gruden uses the term rubber lips for liars.

Some of them black.

There are times when people wanting to see racism, see racism. This is one of those times. And it’s pretty fucking gay imo.

When did we become a species that is always right?

I know one thing we certainly always are.....big gaping pussies. We have become so soft that light banter over a private email is now grounds for your entire empire to crumble to the ground. It's insanity. A simple apology, and this should've been water under the bridge. A couple of emails vs. an entire life dedicated to teaching mostly black people how to be better men.

This is some weird witch hunt, done only to distract. It's bullshit.

Ok. I don’t disagree that it should have been a teachable moment for many.

But we are past this. That isn’t right, it just is.

This not being in the pf I cannot fully answer my thoughts on why. If you want I’m fine to PM and discuss more fully and in good faith.

On the short though….because the cancel crowd has lost their minds. They have mostly taken the approach for generations advocated by King. Be peaceful and win with love. That hasn’t worked….I get it. But, this approach only hardens hearts further.

You like to nail me with faggy, hippie gifs on this but at a lofty level love always beats hate, eventually. They just lost their way on that. They are letting the hate consume.

It’s not right, but it is what it is at the moment.

I wish it were a teachable moment. But, I’m also more willing to swallow what it is because even ten years ago we knew it was utterly stupid to say anything even smacking of controversy on written communication where we are identified.
