Yep. Offensive players get away with it all the time. Usually they lower helmet before defensive player but always penalty on defense.

If the refs all decided to call it one wkend, the rule would be fixed immediately
 
But wasn't targeting introduced to protect offensive players in the first place?
 
The targeting call was okay IMHO. That next one wasn't...again, IMO.

Of course, protect defenseless players, which usually translates into offensive players either with the ball, or receiving the ball

I don't think it was ever intended to protect defensive guys

Tiffany Greene. She's a lot better than Beth Mowens, but that's not a very high bar. She's no less annoying than half the dudes calling games anymore so meh?
 
Just stopped by to say that the refs are absolutely killing ISU… at home.. I would say this is odd, but shitty officiating is standard in the Big 12

Beth Mowens is a cruel joke to fans. Not attacking her as a person or woman, but she is just a buzz killer when it comes to calling games.
