A few years ago, I was riding with a friend to see her husband's band play a show. Dude in a pickup truck decides that an unplowed road is a great place to try racing us to a lane ending and try to squeeze in front of us. He managed to not hit us before his lane ended, but he almost rear-ended the car in front of us, and wound up spinning out and winding up in the guardrail on the opposite side of the road (fortunately didn't hit anyone when he crossed the center line, either). People are dumb.Agree, and no joke it is usually someone from a snowy climate that is zipping around and causes it. 15 or so years ago got to hear it first hand. Was going into work on 114 here in the metroplex and I was in the middle lane doing about 35mph because it was slushy and ice and this little Saturn comes up in my rearview mirror, pops into the left lane just short of my bumper, then jumps back into the middle lane a few feet in front of me. Not more than 15 seconds later as we go under an overpass (so a shaded area) and he starts to drift and I see his brake lights come on but he doesn't slow down. Goes around and ass first into the lane divider and caroms back across and onto the shoulder.
I slowly made my way over and checked to see if he was alright. He bounces out of his car cursing a storm and I can hear the thick minnesota-ish accent bitching about me being in his way. Told him "ok, as long as you are safe you have a good one" and rolled up my window and left. Fuck that guy, driving way too fast and not realizing our ice isn't the snow his carpetbagging ass is used to. Gotta watch those bridges/overpasses/underpasses.
Oh yeah that's for sure, so people with 4wd should be driving slower since they have better traction. But some think it makes them invincible and actually is harder for them to stop.Yeah it's better when you are stuck and trying to get moving. That's what I was thinking.
