Movies where the main characters are boring, but the supporting ones are awesome?

We shall set the bar at two movies:
• Romeo + Juliet
• Madagascar

I think you could call Andy Dufresne pretty boring, and it was his situation in prison that was interesting.
All of the great side characters, Red, Bogs, Warden Norton all were great. Not a single bad character in the whole movie.
Except Andy the dork.

Even Andy's wife thought he was boring and fucked around on him.

If we threw in TV, I'd have to go with Seinfeld.
Never liked his stand up comedy.
Every interview or talk show he has ever done is boring as hell.

It was everybody else that made that show

The movie question gets harder for me.
Uninteresting main characters, a lot of times, means boring everything else.

Seinfeld had four main characters. And three of them are all time greats.

You should at least acknowledge that Seinfeld wrote a lot of the humor into that show and then most all of it after David left.

i'm doubtful about how much Jerry wrote into the show after Larry left. Larry went on to do Curb. Jerry went on to do rich people in cars getting coffee (as well as his same standup act for 30 years). I think they may have had some good writers in place.

Another TV show with this format might be the Andy Griffith show.
Andy, honestly, isn't the most exciting type, or all that interesting, other than going to work every day and keeping order.
