I've been in the camp that it is okay for players to opt out of bowls mainly because teams can use them to build for next year. Now I'm not so sure because I think the portal opens again this spring so you could be fooled and lose some you may have been counting on after their bowl performance.
I guess it could work the other way too. You find out during bowl prep/game that they aren't going to help you next fall so you are glad to see them go.
Heard this the other day. "Now you put more emphasis on building a team, then a program. Put less stock into developing a player and more into one that can help a team now. You may not reap the reward for developing them."
Oh, I'm perfectly fine if players opt out. I'm just saying if guys like Mateer, Kyle Williams, Trebor Pena, Gasden and LQ Allen opt out, that particular game loses a lot of luster.
The Wazzu/Cuse game has a great chance to be a shootout if all participate.
