Can we just put an end to "bowl games" and come up with something different?

Article today says Michigan will have guys like Mason Graham, Kenneth Grant, Colston Loveland, Josiaih Stewart, Donovan Edwards, Will Johnson all sitting out the bowl game against Bama -- essentially every guy who will be drafted in the early part of the NFL draft (sans Donovan Edwards)

These games are so pointless now.

Nope, they make too much money for ESPN, the players who play (and their families) like the trips and swag they get, and the teams like the extra 15 practices that can include early enrollees. It gives players an early opportunity to compete for PT next year.

Bowls are, and always have been 'Exhibition Games' except for the most important ones.

Listen, it was always pointless. Maybe back when there were only a handful of bowl games, and nearly everyone in them was a great talent & good teams, it meant something. But 47 different bowl games, mostly designed to splash their sponsors' names, like Pop-Tarts, Cheez-Its, Valero Rent-a-Car and the Mobile, Alabama Tourism Board.

It's mostly a bunch of meaningless low-grade exhibition games, with many of the best players sitting out even in the playoff series.

Yep.

Unless my team wins, then I'm gonna brag about that schizz for decades
I doubt that. Now, if you're a player on one of the teams playing in the 'Scooters Coffee Frisco Bowl', you'll likely remember it as the high point of your life for decades...

I'm fired up about the Pop Tart Bowl and watching the mascot be eaten that was the best part of last year's bowl season.

Bowl games have been pointless forever. But in the CFB world that is throwing tradition out the window, at least we have this. It's good to know I can flip on ESPN on December 27th at 3:30 and watch two scrubs teams battle it out.

Speaking of December 27th at 3:30 is that when Michigan plays? I admittedly, have no clue who's playing when outside of the CFP.

I have no clue when the game is being played. I don't even know the name of the bowl we are in.

The only reason I probably will tune in is if they let Jadyn Davis start at QB. If they start Warren, I won't even turn it on.

4 of OU's 5 year long injured WR's have portled and a couple of the healthy 2nd stringers portled. It's going to be old fashioned wishbone vs Navy.

So like the NIT for football?

I didn't start watching college football until 1999. I loved the old conference championship games. Even though they were one-sided a lot of times. Some weren't though. Then, I absolutely lived for bowl season. Here I am, a teacher that gets around December 20 - January 3 off from work. That time off and bowl season were a match made in heaven. I remember at times, fans could brag about beating another team in a middle tier bowl game, and it at least meant a little something. Can't do that now when you have to put the waterboy, the low-level trainer, and the nearest convenience store worker in the game just to have a team.

What else are you going to do, listen to your fucking wife or family talk!? Fucking talk? Ugh fuck that.

I’m kinda excited to see some of the other guys while drinking beer and eating chicken wings?

I remember a few years ago when Baylor ran out of QBs the last couple of regular season games. They played UNC in a bolw and basically ran a modern version of the old single wing. Imagine an Artie Boy Briles team that didn't throw but one pass....but only because they didn't have anyone left that could throw it.

💯, Little Debbie needs to get her shizza together and sponsor a Nutty Buddy bowl.

And enough of this garbage of letting the sponsors pick the match ups, let the fans decide the matchups.
