Lol.

Dude took a four-mile wide turn at first and like three crow hops at second. Dafuq is that?

this, my friends, is what baseball has become.

the level of disrespect is quite frankly astonishing.

I don't have a problem with bat flips, but I'm fine with outlawing them if opposing players are going to be whiny twats about it.

I don’t have a problem with bat flips, I just think they’re pretty tacky when you’re still down 8-2 in the 8th inning.

At rate, I just want pitchers that can’t bust a batter inside without hitting them to stop hitting Acuna. Been about 3 times already this year that we’ve been lucky it didn’t break a wrist or hand

This is my thought. In the right context (like being down 4-3 in the ninth and hitting a two run shot) a little celebratory flip is fine by me. Like Tatis, Jr says...we aren’t going back. Fine.

But, this is some way overdone bullshit, both in game situation context, and in enthusiasm.

Here’s the thing....that ball was gone, period. No defender was moving anywhere. But what if home run/no home run was in question....and there was a runner on second.....catcher would be coming out in front of the plate for a possible through, and pitcher would be moving home to back up. That celebratory bat flip comes down on a defender and injures them....then what?

I’m all about getting more celebration into the game. So flip the bat celebratory over toward the batter circle/backstop. Retaliation for something like that would be dumb. But, flip the bat 35 feet high in fair territory and you’re a fucking idiot.

I don’t think a bat should ever be thrown in fair territory. That’s Manny Machado level chickenshit

Agreed. This should be addressed by MLB now coming off this to put some bumpers in place to keep such bat flips out of the game, and absolutely out of fair territory.

But, Commish Manny Man is surely too scared of the fans they are trying to court. We might see such rules after a player gets hurt, but not before.

Holy shit. He launched that fucker.

I'm fine with bat flips, but if you throw the bat 20 yards in the air, that could be lethal. Showboating on the base paths, I don't care for. I have a feeling this kid is gonna get plunked a lot in the show.

League needs Bob Gibson back.

Article mentions Tom Lawless, that one was great!

I played in a park like that with the plywood signs on the wall when I was 16. Hit the big fly. Stood and watched it.
Trouble was it wasn't as big as I thought, it hit the top of the wall and bounded back towards the infield. Sounded like a rifle shot when it hit the plywood. I took off running like a motherfucker to make sure I didn't get thrown out at first base.

I never pulled that idiotic stunt again.

would've liked to see it come down and plonk him on the head :heh:

True that.
