The convo about Big XII had me thinking

2 weeks left in the regular season where do they stand? who is in who still has a chance.

American: Tulane, SMU, UTSA and Memphis

ACC: FSU is locked in, Louisville or North Carolina will be the other. Louisville locks with a win.

Big XII: Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Kansas State

Big Ten: East: Michigan or Ohio State West: Iowa locks in with a win. otherwise all but Purdue are in a weird 5 way tie that the tie breakers are just not something i want to look at.

CUSA: due to Jacksonville state not being eligible Liberty and New Mexico State are pretty much set to lock up for the title.

MAC: Miami OH vs Toledo is already set.

Mountain West: Air Force and UNLV lead the way but play each other this week which should solidify at least the winner. Fresno State, Boise State and San Jose State are all still fighting. in the final 2 weeks there are 3 games among the 5 that will help separate them.

Pac 12: Washington, Oregon, Oregon State and Arizona are all vying for the 2 spots. Washington needs 1 win, either of their next 2 and they are in. Oregon needs to win out or with a Washington win and Oregon win and Arizona loss this week they are in. Oregon State gets in by beating Washington and Oregon in consecutive weeks. Arizona needs a list of games to go their way to get there but it starts by winning.

SEC: Georgia and Alabama duh

Sun Belt: JMU is not eligible but they do play the next 2 teams behind them. Troy from the west awaits either Coastal Carolina or Appalachian state.

Hmmmmm. Looks like all but two conferences have a lot of “regular season games that matter” …at least as far as CCGs go. Imagine how many we’d have “that matter” if we had a 12 team playoff.

it still would matter because winner of these would get a first rd bye..

That another good example. And what happens in games in one conference may have impacts in the others. And there will be more of them that are meaningful....not less. I'm ragging on those that claimed increasing the playoff number reduces the importance of the regular season.

UW now in

Zona has to beat ASU AND beavs take down the ducks to claim the other spot, otherwise it's a UW/Oregon rematch.

Longhorns in.

Update with 1 week to go

American: Tulane, SMU, UTSA. Tulane and UTSA play this week so the winner is in. so long as SMU gets past Navy they will be in too. but if Navy upsets SMU there would be tie with the loser of the other game and they go to tie breaker.

ACC: FSU and Louisville is now locked in.

Big XII: Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas State down to 4 contenders. Texas gets in no question with a win this week. the other three go to tie breakers if they all win. adding TX to a tie breaker if they lose to TT. im not going to figure out the combos.

Big Ten: East: Michigan or Ohio State West: Iowa is now locked in.

CUSA: due to Jacksonville state not being eligible Liberty and New Mexico State are playing for the title.

MAC: Miami OH vs Toledo is already set.

Mountain West: The 4 teams fighting for spots all play each other this week. UNLV beats San Jose State and they are in. Air Force plays Boise in the other match up with the winner in if UNLV wins. if San Jose State wins there is a 3 way tie with UNLV San Jose State and the winner of AF and Boise. SJSU would have head to head over UNLV who would have head to head over AF. Both AF and Boise have head to head over SJSU so i really dont know who gets in.

Pac 12: Washington has locked up the first spot. Oregon is in the next best position as they need to either win or have Arizona lose. Arizona needs both a win and an Oregon loss.

SEC: Georgia and Alabama duh

Sun Belt: JMU is not eligible but they will have a hand in who plays for the championship if they beat Coastal Carolina this week. Troy from the west awaits either Coastal Carolina or Appalachian state.
