Michigan backed out on playing UCLA to play Hawaii and East Carolina.

SEC plays the least amount and they also play some teams that are not Division I. I think that is way the SEC always has trouble in the playoffs.

I get why the SEC does it
why risk extra losses when basically the whole conference can gain +1 win by playing a extra FCS or Sun Belt/MAC type team.

You have the LSU outlier but it's basically 2 teams carrying the load. Lets not pretend the whole conference is constantly knocking on the door of a national title.
