Bookie:
$ 6,645,000.00
So much for that massive $350 million he wanted. Of course you know he’s opting out after 1 year and gonna try again for massive deal next offseason.

The Twins are just as likely to trade him at the deadline.

Yep, that’s definitely possible since I’m guessing the Twins won’t be that good.

Pretty much this. Either way it’s gonna be a short term rental for whoever gets him.

So essentially a 1 year deal where he enters FA again next year?

Yep. Only way he doesn’t opt out is if some injury happens that would take him out of part/most of that 2nd season of deal.

Honestly….I like this idea if the team goes south this year. Send him out for a big hit of young prospects and talent.

This signing is absolutely about flipping him for some prospects at the deadline. It is also about putting some butts in the seats and making the fans think ownership cares about winning, if they also go and trade for a top of the rotation starter maybe i'll believe this is about winning.

they probably need a few more arms if they want to keep up with the ChiSox, but they're in a lot better shape than the other three AL Central teams in regards to the playoffs IMO.

I feel like people are overlooking how much he can improve the twins offense.

Would teams be willing to give up much for a partial season rental though?

That would be the gamble here. Good point…. It could blow up that simply.

Still, with more playoff teams this year there will be more teams “in it” that could spring for such a rental. There’s no guarantees here and they could just be opting him out free this winter….but I like the potential they took on here.

If it plays right they’ve bought some good prospects to fold in.

Twins luck, he'll get injured 2 weeks before the trade deadline

their offense won't be the problem

can he pitch?
