Dak signs new 4 year/$240 million contract

How much is Mahomes paid? $240 million for a player who never has played in a Super Bowl. And 31. Burrow has and who knows with Love, Lawrence at this point doesn't look like he ever will and all paid just below Dak. Watson was the highest. Look how that worked out. Cowboys better win now with CeeDee and Dak hogging all the salary cap. Chiefs have the same issue with Mahomes, Kelce, and Jones....but Mahomes so fricking good don't matter. Next year it will be the 49ers turn with Purdy, Bosa, Aiyuk, Williams, MaCaffery hogging the bulk of the money. Last chance this season with 49ers.

It's not about winning championships. It's about putting butts in seats and selling merchandise. Cowboys fans were sold a bill of goods years ago that always state that they're the "best" team, even if they've won like 5 playoff games in the last 18 years. Guys like Dak Prescott and Tony Romo only have to be good enough, even if there are serious concerns about their decision-making.

The reality is that winning championships has less to do with superstar players and more to do with generally well-built teams and above all, quality coaching. Examining a lot of the Patriots and Chiefs Super Bowls, they're not mind-blowing rosters up and down. But they're supremely well-coached. Meanwhile, the Cowboys organization has pretty much been characterized by a shitty owner who thinks he's such a genius, he goes out and hires lackluster coaches that don't threaten his ego by being too good at their jobs. Could Dak win in Dallas? Not with Jerry Jones as owner.

Just proves that when they interview players, coaches and owners at the start of a season (or at the draft, etc.), and they say, "the number one priority is to win the Super Bowl", they're blatantly lying to you.

All they really need is a winning record, or the strong possibility of having a winning record soon. The sort of rosters that win Super Bowls are filled with boring-ass defensive players, O-linemen, blocking TEs and journeymen running backs. Go buy the Cam Newton or Odell Beckham jerseys. Drink that $14 Bud Light.

The teams that consistently care are the ones who are willing to shake things up and endure a couple of bad seasons. The Steelers, the Giants, the Packers, the Patriots. While there are a bunch of clueless teams, with poorer front offices and player development stumbling around, there are also teams that just don't care as long as they get paid: the Cowboys, the Falcons, the Jets, the Bears, the Broncos...

Why yes- apparently my superpower is the ability to state the very obvious. The QB position is massively overrated. Teams are in a perpetual spending war over an extremely limited commodity that simply cannot win championships by themselves.
