If you go back and watch Vitale call games from the 80s and 90s, he was really good. It is easy to see why he is a name that is synonymous with college basketball.
With that said...
He's been horrible for the past twenty years. He rarely calls the game, he often goes on tangents about other sports or current events during live action. He sucks, but then again, he was a big proponent of Olivier Sarr going to Kentucky last year (only to stink up the entire state), so maybe i'm being a little harsh.

Agreed.
Glad he’s doing well right now. And overall he’s good for the game simply as an all time face and his enthusiasm.
But anyone who thinks he’s actually a quality analyst these days needs their head examined
