Seems a little high for Texas Tech to me. I live in the Lubbock area and feedback from the hoops rats up there is high potential upside but many growing pains on the horizon. Top 25 yeah, but top 10?

Texas Tech got good news recently as they are Big 12 Preseason picks to win that conference. Nationally ranked despite losing Davide Moretti. Getting that NCAA waiver for McClung was a huge get to fill out the roster this season. Texas Tech will be solid.

Yeah, the McClung news was good for them. Beard does as good a job as any coach of meshing a bunch of returners, recruits and transfers into a team.

No doubt they'll be solid. Just a little skeptical of top 10 right now.

This is Vitale's weekly top 40. I like to see everybody play a few games before ranking them. But they do have a bunch of potential as a Top 10 team.

Played golf growing up with one of Tech's BMD's sons and still see him frequently here in town. (Hell, we are full of Tech donors but he may be the only one that I know of that would be considered big money). Anyhoo, he got real interested in Tech hoops during the Knight days and has maintained contact with the hoops program. The guy is a big Beard fan as he says "since he knows West Texas and coached for Knight."

That's where the info comes from but the specific concern is the front court. Growing pains may not have been the best description. Meshing is a better term....specifically front court... kids from UNLV and VCU. If they mesh quickly they could be real good since the talent is there. And, some of those young' ens may show up to be much more ready than normal freshman. They seem confident that McClung, Edwards and the new kid from Prolific Prep can more than fill for the Moretti and Ramsey departure. It is the frontcourt that may struggle a while.

About right. They'll finish any where as high as 6 and anywhere as low as 12. Upset a top team somewhere along the line but lose one or two against one of the worst three teams in the league. Rinse and repeat. Same for next year.
