I'm spreading it around. Washington hasn't beaten a top 5 team OOC in 30 years, and then aren't getting one this year. 4.5 is a little too tight though....since they have 9 wins by 10 or less. I'll take Texas straight up all day though.

I’m not going to comb through every year, but I know that’s not true because they beat Miami, top 5 at the time and finished number 2, in 2000. I remember this because UW finished #3, behind the team they beat. And I’m not a math genius our anything, but pretty sure that was less than 30 years ago.

But I digress, what relevance does the last 30 years have? In DeBoer’s 2 years they haven’t lost to a ranked team. Enjoy.
 
I will be pulling for Washington, though I think it is unlikely.

If we get a Bama/Texas rematch, fuck CFB.

In principle, I agree, but Bama ML is just too juicy to pass on. I’d gladly lose that for Bama to lose, I just don’t see it happening

Not looking for a pat on the back here, just looking at wins vs top 5 teams over 30 years seems like a weird thing to justify a bet.

I’m now curious how many opportunities UW even had to beat top 5 teams in that time,
I know there was Alabama in the 2016 playoff. But it’s not like you’re guaranteed to get to play top 5 teams every year. And factoring in that a chunk of that span was some of the lowest years the program has ever experienced… I’m sure the 0-12 2008 team is super relevant betting information for the 2024 cotton bowl though.

Didn't UW beat USC one year ranked 3 at the time? Stanford was pretty high. So even the OOC requirement is weird as well as irrelevant.

I don't mind everyone writing this team off. Nothing new.

UW was supposed to be destroyed by the Ducks and ended up dominating the line on both sides of the ball.

And they now get to add Durfee as a new wrinkle to that D line. Will have 2 solid pass rushers.

The weird irrelevant and cherry picked things people come up with to justify stuff is weird. Then factor in it wasn’t even accurate in this case, so irrelevant, cherry picked, and incorrect.
 
Not many teams have ever beaten a top 5 in OOC. I'm just glad we didn't lose our last game and are in the playoffs. We can pretend worry about a rare stat next year when it also doesn't matter.
