the Eagles will be sending the 16th, 19th, and 194th picks in this year’s draft to the Saints for the 18th, 101st, and 237th picks as well as a 2023 first-round pick and a 2024 second-round pick.

Not a bad strategy for the Eagles. Move back 2 picks, get hopefully a better pick next year, and a good pick in 2 years.

The sixth round pick this year, meh. Would have rather gotten a second next year instead of in 2024.

As a cowboy fan I hate the trade. It makes perfect sense and with the Saints team being as bad as it looks that pick next year could be top 10. Hope Saints put protection on it, if that exists in the NFL. Having three firsts in a year is a bad move. Lots of cap space taken up and in 4 years you have three 5th year decisions to make. Better to have two this year and two next year. Smart move by the eagle. Pisses me off.

I'm going to assume the Eagles couldn't use their three firsts this year to convince a veteran QB to play for them. That makes me feel better.

I like this trade for the Eagles. The Saints look like they are in rebuild mode, so that first rounder next year could be top 10. We have a ton of assets where we could move up if need be since the 2023 QB class should be great, if things don't work for Hurts this season.

Roseman has done a good job last off-season and this off-season of collecting assets. Let's see if he can do anything with them.

too bad the eagles suck at drafting

Well at least they are get draft capital for the new the GM
He definitely will have no excuses if 5th year options aren't picked up by 2028. He will have had 4 chances, barring more trades, to pick 1st rounders and have them play the 5th year by then. And a GM is going to need 6 years to see if he can manage.

It actually does make sense for the Eagles to make this deal this year, never mind what the Saints gave up.
The simple fact is they can "Eagles" could very easily make a move up in next years draft to take a QB if Hurts doesn't play well this year.

This trade was not as earth shattering as many folks think. Draft picks are a hit and miss exercise.

I don't know of anyone calling it "earth shattering"

Quite a few folks thought it was a bigger deal than it actually was.

like who?

I have seen plenty of knee jerk reactions from fans, but that's really it

Along w like 12 other teams w multiple 1st round picks next year.

Yeah I think some forget that these teams as a rule of thumb. Consider a pick for the following year to be one down from this year. So a 1st next year on their point system would be like a 2nd point wise this year & so on.
