Eagles - Saints Trade Picks

If QB is what they prioritize, then I would think on draft day they will trade out of one of their remaining 1sts this year for a 1st next year. 3 1sts next year pretty much guarantees they could get into the top 3 to pick a QB. And as players start to fall there will be teams looking to jump the line this year, like always.
I hadn’t really thought about this. That’s a point to consider. A huge part of me hopes they don’t go 1 this year and 3 next year, as I want two first rounders of talent this year to toss into the rebuild.

But, Hurts is such a question mark that this could be merited as well. One thing I have liked…..there’s not griping stories coming out about this about a disgruntled Eagles QB. They can’t even seem to manufacture it. Was the same thing when they got Minshew.

I’ll say that for Hurts, kid has his flaws, but his head is on right, unlike his predecessor.

So you evaluated him based on only one game? Love is only 23 and already has two seasons of NFL experience. Some teams have shown interest but the Packers would not trade him for anything less than a 2nd round pick. That would be a steal for a shrewd GM willing to agree to this deal.

Im just a fan but so far I see nothing that says anything but the Pack messed up the pick. Obviously NFL GMs don’t see it either, as no offers have been made for him. Look at the crazy offers being thrown around for QBs. For some reason, no interest in him at all.

Disagree. I just haven’t seen anything from Love yet to justify the pick or negate it, and I’m not even taking the KC game into account. I think that would be an unfair barometer to measure him on.

But, also have to agree with others….he’s got no mentoring from Rodgers. Can’t see that.

And really can’t see anything one way or the other that justifies that a 2nd rounder. To me that’s just GB setting a high bar as they have no clue if they will need him or not sometime soon depending on the petulance of the QB1
At least four teams have inquired about Love.

The Packers made a mistake when they drafted Love as they already had a HOF QB in Rodgers.

How did they make a mistake exactly? Drafting any QB when you have Rodgers, or was the mistake specifically in taking Love?

Taking a QB in the first round was a mistake. They could have taken one in the lower rounds.

Ok, making sure I follow your thinking. It was a mistake in where the QB was selected, not the actual QB selected. Won’t argue with that.

Do you feel the 2nd rounder it’s the right compensation to unload Love?

Seeing that he is only 23 and has a cannon for an arm I believe he would be worth a 2nd round pick.

It’s similar to when the Pistons drafted Darko. Bad pick, but the resulted in a lot of good w team overall. Drafting Love absolutely lit a fire under Rodgers that may not have been lit without that pick.

I'm sure Gutekunst is sorry he took Love in the first round.

That’s fair. I don’t know if he goes anytime soon for a second. But, there’s always August when an arm goes down and a team needs a QB.

Buying for a 1 and selling for a 2 in order to light a fire under your QB isn’t a bad move at all in such a case.

Asking "you evaluate him on one game" vs what you are evaluating him on...age and draft position.

Christ two pages about Jordan Love? ( I hate the offseason)

Was it foolish to draft AR's replacement in the 1st round ? Hell no see when AR was drafted and they already had a great QB

In the end they keep Love, you need a backup to an "older" QB. Its an unwritten rule. Yes they paid AR alot but now its on him to stay up right and on the field.
If anything AR goes down and Love comes in and looks good, then its that other unwritten rule " move on from the old guy and run with the young dude."
