I seriously doubt every power conference team finishes with at least 2 losses at the end of the regular season, this has legit never happened.

I asked Grok if it has ever happened. It goes through the last time it has happened for a conference. Still scrolling to see if it has all FBS major conferences.

ESPN’s 2025 Prediction
ESPN’s prediction for 2025 implies that no Power 4 team will finish the regular season 12-0 or 11-1, and every team will have at least two losses (e.g., 10-2 or worse). This would be historically unprecedented based on available data, as no season in the BCS or Playoff era (1998–2024) has seen all Power conferences (Power 5 or Power 4) simultaneously have every team with 2+ losses. Individual conferences (e.g., 2020 Big 12, 2018 Pac-12, 2008 ACC) have met this criterion, but never all conferences in the same year.
The prediction’s plausibility hinges on extreme parity or upsets in 2025, possibly driven by:
  • Expanded 12-team Playoff increasing competitive scheduling.
  • Conference realignment (e.g., SEC adding Texas and Oklahoma, Big Ten adding USC and Oregon) creating tougher matchups.
  • Transfer portal and NIL deals leveling talent distribution.
However, dominant programs (e.g., Georgia, Ohio State, Texas) typically produce at least one 12-0 or 11-1 team per conference, making ESPN’s prediction a significant outlier.

Final Answer:
Yes, there have been seasons where every team in a single FBS major conference had at least two regular-season losses, such as the 2020 Big 12 (best record: Oklahoma 6-2) and 2018 Pac-12 (best records: Washington State, Washington 10-2). Another instance is the 2008 ACC (best records: Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech 9-3). However, there has never been a season in the BCS or Playoff era (1998–2024) where every Power conference (Power 5 or Power 4) simultaneously had all teams with at least two losses. ESPN’s prediction for 2025, if accurate, would be a historical first, as no such season is documented in available data. Pre-BCS seasons (pre-1998) are less certain due to incomplete records, but dominant teams make it unlikely.
If you’d like me to search for specific pre-1998 seasons or analyze ESPN’s 2025 prediction further (e.g., team schedules), let me know!

It seems like 1984 is the closest it has ever happened,

I'm sure ESPN's projections are based off their garbage FPI system, which is about the worst of any of the garbage metric ranking systems. (Alabama was #4 in their final rankings of 2024 for example)

B12 lose 3 teams?

If OU goes 7-5, Castiglione had damn well better pull the plug on Venables. With all the boasting that's now going on in Norman, 9-3 should be the minimum for saving his job. Oklahoma consistently losing 4-5 games every season is unacceptable.

Y'all got to lower your expectations now. 9-3 or 10-2 are only going to happen once every 4-5 seasons at most.

BS. Consistently winning 9-10 games a year in the regular season is very reasonable given the recruiting power and financial resources Oklahoma has. What OU doesn’t (maybe) have is a HC who can take all that and go do something good with it. Venables hasn’t proven anything yet. If OU had an easier SEC schedule this season that would help. But the time for excuses is over; it’s time to start having successful seasons again.

Well Bless your heart!
