Man, I'd be the biggest activist judge to ever walk this great planet had I gone that route. "I sentence you to replace the slide, make other improvements to the playground, then purchase your own slide and keep in your Childs bedroom for 3 years".

Everyone wins and the father ends up actually regretting it when the kid tires of the slide after 8 minutes.
