Yea, they may have to start over, but it was needed.

Yeah we never have trouble getting recruits. So we just need a good coach again.

Similar to Buzz just hopefully a little less delusional.

Marquette fans on r/CollegeBasketball are completely against this idea

one even said that whenever Crean's face appears on the jumbotron @ Marquette, he is immediately booed by fans. not sure how accurate that it is, but its interesting

i think a lot of the internet fans are still pissed that Crean left after he said he was going to be at Marquette forever

That makes sense. But at the end of the day if could probably help the program succeed again. I’d give him a chance.

And yes, it’s the same for mountaineer fans when Neal Brown bails on us. I’d hate the idea of rich rod coming back. But if he is going to succeed, I’ll need to swallow my pride.

i would hire Rich Rod in a heartbeat if i were WVU. He had things rolling when he left for Michigan

Only thing I’m worried about is his system isn’t new, and defense wasn’t great.

But I’ll be God damn if I didn’t love his (or his assistant coach’s) ability to recruit Florida.

Id say the same for Crean.
 
I'm guessing some of the candidates for this will be similar to what the Gophers are looking at, but Marquette, in theory, should be higher on the pecking order than the Gophers. Marquette is just a better job.

Honestly, if we can't land Muss I'd be more than happy to hire Wojo. I'd rather have him than a Mt West Conference coach(Medved, Ditcher, Smith)

That's debateable as schools like Minnesota can pay more despite having 'somewhat' less success than Marquette.

Honestly, they're both tough jobs. Big East is really tough right now. Every program except for DePaul(who just fired their coach) is competitive. B1G is obviously similar.

Johnny Dawkins to Minnesota

Danny Manning to Marquette

Dawkins because Minnesota loves retreads + guys that come from a high profile background

Manning because he has the private school experience that Marquette prefers

Yeah, we can pay more, but will we actually pay more? If we can get Muss, it's going to take probably 4/5 million a year to get it done because he's already making 2.5 million a year. Which I'd be fine with because it's not my money and we'd need to go that high. Wojo and Pitino made roughly the same amount of money.

Marquette has just had so much more success than the Gophers, I think that's why if all things are equal they are the better job. If the Gophers make a homerun hire the potential is there because of in state recruiting. But we've missed out on so many high level recruits I doubt that changes in any way even if we do get Muss.
