Teams In BOLD = Current leader of conference in terms of conference standing. If a tie exists the tie-breaker is who’s ranked higher in the NET standings(as of 1/18/21).

*IVY League is NOT participating this season.*

Other teams NOT participating:

Bethune Cookman
Chicago State
University of Maryland-Eastern Shore

Top 10 on “S” Curve: Gonzaga, Baylor, Iowa, Michigan, Villanova, Texas, Houston, Tennessee, Kansas, Wisconsin.
Last 4 BYES: Arkansas, Richmond, San Diego State, North Carolina
Last 4 IN: Indiana, VCU, Utah State, Wichita State
First 4 OUT: Maryland, Michigan State, Duke, Marquette
Nest 4 OUT: Colorado State, SMU, Tulsa, Stanford

Of Note: The Selection committee is going back to the “S” Curve in terms of selecting the teams. With there being no regard for geography this season, you will get a true bracket of the #1 overall seed playing the #8 overall seed in the Regional Final should the bracket hold to form, and so on and so forth.

The Quadrant System is as follows:

Quadrant 1 (Q1): Home (1-30)Neutral (1-50)Away (1-75)
Quadrant 2 (Q2): Home (31-75)Neutral (51-100)Away (76-135)
Quadrant 3 (Q3): Home (76-160)Neutral (101-200)Away (136-240)
Quadrant 4 (Q4): Home (161-357)Neutral (201-357)Away (241-357)

The fact that Lunardi still has Duke and MSU not just in the field but avoiding the play in game is grounds for him never working again.

What a jackass.

I actually think missing games is favorable, because sitting idle doesn't hurt you that much, but losing to a bad team sends you tumbling down the NET.

I wonder how the committee is going to take that into consideration.

I think Texas should still be on the 1 line.

The 4th 1 sees is tough . Gonzaga, Baylor and Iowa are pretty clearly the 3 best resumes right now. Nova is lacking games but you can still make an argument. Tennessee, Michigan and Texas are all there too

Another crack pot Lundardi seeding compared to Eric.

Texas Tech.

That moron has them as a 4. Sure they just beat Texas the other day. But other than that they have lost every other game against a team with a pulse.

The 4th one seed was definitely tough. I went with Michigan because they are 3-1 against Q1 competition. Texas is 2-2. Nova is 2-1. And is only 2-1 against Q1/Q2 competition. Out of those 3 I personally think Nova is the best team, just don't have the resume built up, mostly do to not playing as many games. But all 3 are extremely close IMO.

Lunardi relies way to much on KenPom when selected/seeding teams. You know how far off he is when it comes close to Selection Sunday and he sends a team tumbling down the bracket. It was Texas Tech last year. They were like an 8/9 heading into champ week and then his last update they were like last 4 team or there about. Texas Tech always has great analytics, but last year and in 2017 they didn't have the results to warrant selection(2017) and a preferential seeding(2020).

Just look at where he has teams like UCLA, UVA, Colorado and Oregon in comparison to the Gophers. Those other teams have a COMBINED 5 Q1 wins to the Gophers' 4 and all are seeded ahead of the Gophers or on the same seed line. It's pretty bad. Not to pick on the Pac 12, but it's bad. @Mr.Hockey

UVA being high is a joke. Unless you count Clemson as actually good they have nothing and lost to Gonzaga by literally 100.

Has Oregon even played many games? Without looking I feel like they are always on pause.

Clemson actually has a really good resume, despite getting blown out against UVA. I'd say they are probably a top 25/30ish team. But I can see them being bumped up a seed line or 2 because of a really good/underrated resume. They are 7-2 against Q1/Q2 teams.

Oregon has played 11 games. They are 0-2 against Q1 competition though. They don't have a sure fire NCAA win with Seton Hall and Stanford being their best wins, and they aren't locks or anything. Bad SOS and OOC SOS too. They are 21 in KenPom though, so you can understand why he has them on the 6 line. Once again relying too much on that.

Duke loses again.

Duke loses again.

At this point they should be completely off everybody's board. I get they've only played 9 games, but no team has ever made it being 1 game over .500. On top of it they have bad SOS numbers and a bad NET ranking.

The issues with relying too much on KemPom is that KemPom isn't trying to rank teams based on how good their current resumes are. He's trying to rank everyone by who he thinks the best teams are (based on his algorithm). I'm a fan of KemPom but better team vs. better resume are two different things

Oh yeah I totally agree. I love referencing KenPom, except when it comes to selection/seeding. Like last year for instance the Gophers were 27th when play stopped, and there was no way we were getting in. Do I think we were a top 30 team in terms of performance, yeah, we just lost a ton of close games, to good competition.

I'll actually do you one better . No one else even has 8. Next closest is 7.

Iowa is the only team with 5 Q1 wins btw. Not that I'm counting.... lol
