Four Nations Tournament

All in all, I thought is was a pretty good tournament, but I question it's sustainability. They were parading around the cup trophy like it was a 100 year old Stanley Cup, which was a bit cringe. There is only ONE cup. What about when Russia decides to behave? Does it then become the "Five" nation cup? Wherever it lands, hockey is hockey and always good, except that cartoon show Spangler Cup!!
This tourney was probably the best and most competitive iteration of it we will ever see.

It had been an excessively long time since the last best-on-best international hockey competition, so players were extra juiced for it. It's unlikely we'll go a decade without it again for the remainder of our lifetimes - especially since this tourney turned out to be wildly successful.

- best-on-best
- banning a top 3 country from playing.

Pick one

Trumps gotta let Putin play in the next one, then there’s a chance I’ll give a shit. Six nations tourney with Russia and Team Earth so the third best player in the fucking world can participate.

We get it - you have a boner for Russia.

Jack Hughes really looked like he don't belong with the big dogs

Congratulations Canada ... you need a better coach (Prime Minister) for your country!!!

I don't know if it would have made a difference but I do think that the guys picking the US team might have made what I (somewhat unfairly LOL) call The Rob Zamuner Mistake.

In a short tournament you really shouldn't take guys to fill specific roles. Just take the best players. People always say "If you're gonna win your top players have to be your top players!" but in this kind of tournament where the talent gap between the 1st line and the 4th line isn't as wide you need guys throughout the entire lineup who are capable of creating offense so that you aren't struggling to score if some of your top guys get shut down (or just have an off/unlucky night).

I think Canada has better players, but we are getting better.
How can you lose with Don Cherry on your side!!

Mebbe

Only thing dumber than DumbCup is LTIR rules
It's that time of year... Queue a VGK trade and Mark Stone to come down with an ailment that magically is all better right at the start of the playoffs.

I guess the only argument would be that since it was a non-contact injury it could have happened in any game/practice/chasing kids around the ice at some charity event but I probably wouldn't like/accept that explanation if it was one of my guys. It sucks that he's out at all though.

Yep. Andrew Copp tore his pec trying to separate guys in a scrum right after that Zegras headshot on Rasmussen. Sucks, but shit happens.
