Have you ever been banned from a place?

"Oh, Lisa, I've been called a greasy thug, too...and the hurting never stops!"

That episode might get my vote for Best Lisa Episode. And as much as everyone loves to see Homer doing dumb stuff he's never better than when he's loving Lisa.

I mean, for more of an impact I could have just used "the hospital while my father was dying" but I figure I wasn't being targeted for a specific reason there and there wasn't a government app for anyone to use when that was happening  :noidea:
Did you really not get to be with your dad?

Can’t imagine…

They told my family (after telling us that he was done for) that one person could visit him for an hour and my mother and I let my sister go in. Then they scheduled a Zoom for all of us with him on life support.

At the very end they did back down a tiny bit and allowed my mother and I to roll through the room very quickly and see him (through glass) for a minute.

It's fucked up man. You don't realize how stuff like that stays with you, I spent the whole time just trying to make sure my mom was gonna be OK and I'm not sure that I have even begun grieving him yet.

I should add that he did not die of COVID (and was not COVID positive).

My grandmother died of heart failure during the height of the pandemic - when everything was locked down tight and hospitals were pinning every little dumb ailment on COVID so they could get more government funding.

No family was allowed to see my grandmother - even my grandfather - as her life extinguished. When she passed, they predictably pinned her with COVID and quarantined my grandfather for two weeks.

Put yourself in my elderly grandfather's shoes... The woman you've been dedicated to for about 70 years passes away and you were not allowed anywhere near her. And on top of that, no one is allowed anywhere near you for comfort or support for two weeks of torturous isolated lonely hell.

...Still makes my blood boil...

They'd have opened the door to find my 13 day old corpse.

I seriously expected my grandfather to die of a broken heart. Ever since, I've never asked him what he went through because I don't want open any wounds; I just give him a big hug every time we meet & depart and do my part to make him feel loved.

My grandmother's funeral also occurred during the heart of the pandemic - when everyone was required to wear masks outside and stand beyond shouting distance of each other. After the minister said his thing and before her casket was lowered, all family present was granted access to approach the casket individually to pay their respects. I was the very first person to approach the casket. I gave the casket a big hug and kiss and told my grandmother I loved her. No one was going to stop me that time from giving my grandma one last hug.

I'm really sorry.

I'm just one man with no political power but every day I think "I should have done more".

Never forget.

A coworker of mine’s mother had a fatal brain aneurysm in the summer of 2020. He pretty well told a hospital worker trying to stop him that he didn’t care if it came with an assault charge, he was gonna say goodbye to his mom. They let him go

It's amazingly disappointing that we reached that point as a society and didn't all say "Hey, maybe this is a bit much".

I just want to be sure that everyone remembers.

Things never got as crazy here in GA as they did in a lot of places, and luckily I never had to deal with hospitals, but I’ve heard horror stories

I’m more of a glad to see ya kind of person.

Goddamn y'all. Some tragic shit in here, but a vital reminder. The shit they did should not be forgotten. Fucking disgusting.

@DragonFromTo and @RP-29, that shit is so fucked up. Pisses me off to no end.:mad2:
