I know Iowa baseball is no national powerhouse and has been blessed with an easy schedule so far. But right now they are top of the conference (above 2 ranked teams) by more than a game. Iowa will probably crack Top 25 in Coaches Poll this week.

- Iowa has won 16 of there last 20
- Won all 8 conference series so far, 4 were sweeps
- Has 3 good starting pitchers

I hope i didn't jinx Iowa and they fall apart the rest of the season.

What are you going to do if they lose every game the rest of the season?

Have you no shame?

Y'all got a good coach. For Big 10 talent.

Iowa's remaining schedule could be a great thing for Iowa or it could be a horrible thing for Iowa.

May 2-4 - @ Washington (3 games series)
May 7 - @ UI-Chicago
May 9-11 - Oregon State (3 game series)
--- D1Baseball #7/Coaches Poll #12
--- Game played at Principal Park in Des Moines
May 15-17 - Oregon (3 game series)
---D1Baseball #6/Coaches #10

May 20-25 - B1G Tournament (in Omaha)
B1G teams in rankings
--- D1Baseball - #6 Oregon, #14 UCLA
--- Coaches - #10 Oregon, #14 UCLA

Y'all have had a good season thus far (relatively).

Iowa is probably sub .500 in the SEC.
They're not ranked in the Top 25 because their RPI is 60. Winning the Washington series will certainly help in winning the Big 10 regular season, but it's not gonna help your RPI since Washington's RPI is 80th.

I wouldn't put much stock in it if Iowa beats Oregon St. Nebraska won their 3 game series against them. It should improve Iowa's RPI somewhat. I'm actually surprised you're playing an OOC 3 game series with the Beavs this far into your Big 10 schedule, but y'all really need to win that series.

If Iowa holds on to win the Big 10 'regular season' they're probably pretty safe to get into the NCAA Tournament come Selection Monday even without getting an auto-bid by winning the Big 10 Tournament too.

In 2022 Rutgers had 44 wins and an RPI of 42nd but still got dissed by the selection committee. However, they did not win the regular season or the Big 10 tournament. They were #2 in conference play behind Maryland.

Just keeping you grounded.

I am grounded. I am not actually worried too much about the Oregon State game. It was a great game to feature in Des Moines, but it means nothing to the B1G race.

Oregon worries me though. Even though Iowa is Top 10 NCAA in ERA and Top 15 in WHIP, Oregon is Top 10 in HR and Top 15 in fielding percentage. Oregon also has series win over UCLA, so they will be hoping to catch them if UCLA drops a few games. And of course, catching Iowa would be bigger. Oregon would win a 3-way tie with Iowa and UCLA.

I wouldn't complain if Nebraska were in Iowa's shoes right now. There's just no guarantee of a Big 10 team making the NCAA Tourney without getting an auto-bid for winning the Big 10 Tourney.

Adding Washington, Oregon, UCLA, and USC should help RPI's some.

I am actually excited about Iowa in the post-season. I think this is one of the more complete teams Iowa has had since I started following them (whenever Jake Adams led the NCAA in HRs, 2017 I think). Iowa since then, Iowa has had a few regional finals. I think with their depth in pitching, they could be a surprise team. I almost want them to have a seed not as good as what they want. I think they would play better with a chip on their shoulder.

Was a good night for UCLA. Iowa and Oregon both lost and UCLA won.

What a crazy game for Olbermueller.

Had 7 strikeouts in 4 innings with only two allowed on base.

Then in the 5th inning, had 2 hit batters and 3 walks - allowing 2 unforced runs.
