Cool concept in it's day for sure, but the turbine engine was not practical.

The better story is how Chrysler held a lottery of sorts (user program) so that regular folks could test drive these cars for 3 months provided that they agreed to give detailed feedback on their experiences. That program ran for 3+- years and yielded enough data to convince Chrysler to halt the turbine car project. I gotta believe it was pretty cool to take part in the user program and have one of the 50 production cars in your driveway for 3 months.
