@iowajerms, why did you rank LSU at 25? Was that a mistake?

Still early in the season and two losses disqualify you. Felt bad about Texas being out (almost broke my 2 loss rule), they deserve to be in. Tennessee is the real deal ... Big Game Alabama/Tennessee. Michigan finally plays someone worthy a chance to move up a bit.

Just saw Penn State plays Michigan followed by Minnesota followed by Ohio State. That's brutal

I actually think Texas might be sneaky good and that Texas Tech loss may have been an aberration. Don't tell @ELTEXAN. We will see. I don't think anyone in Big12 goes undefeated and makes playoff spot.

Clemson is a team to keep your eye on. They beat the two best teams on their schedule: NC State and Wake Forest. They still have Syracuse and FSU but I think Clemson could win out and make CFB. I also like that they are gritty. If you threw away the names and hype around teams, Clemson might be the #1 ranked team based on their schedule to date.

I am getting called "SEC homer" in another thread for pointing out that Ohio State hasn't played anyone yet. I am still not 100% confident that Ohio State wins B1G East. Michigan and Penn State both have very good teams. Looking forward to that matchup. The Penn State-Michigan game has argument to deserve GameDay just as much as Alabama-Tennessee.

Alabama has also looked very vulnerable but I always give them a doubt because of Saban. Heck, even in years where Alabama doesn't win it all (like last year), I almost get the vibe they are the favorites but just happened to lose that day. The only years were I felt like Alabama was truly dominated were 2018 with Clemson and 2019 with LSU. Most years this decade feel like Alabama was just upset when they didn't win it all.

Pac12 looks like they could put a team in this year but may need help. B1G and SEC still have multiple teams in contention and Clemson looks good to get a spot.

I don’t see how anyone can put Bama at #1 right now. They are totally different team without Bryce. When Bryce comes back and looks healthy, I’ll change my opinion.

Kentucky at 14? Where is that coming from

The poll in the OP was from last week's rankings.

Thanks. Think I would put Ohio State #1 this week. They have been the most consistent team through 6 weeks

Consistently mediocre against mediocre teams. I'm not impressed at all. They're going to get tested eventually.
I can’t put Georgia #1. They have looked rough, 2 of the last 3 weeks. Bama lost their QB. I don’t think OSU will be the #1 team at the end of the season, but hard to find team that has looked better the first 6 weeks. They get the nod for taking care of business consistently, unlike the others

There are a dozen teams that could beat them soundly next week. They let Michigan State hang 20 on them? First real team they play will expose them for being a very meh team.

It was 49-13 going into the 4Q. I don’t give a shit about a late 4Q score. When that team exposes them, I’ll be happy to move them down.

Even if you take out SEC because any time someone argues for an SEC team on here they are "homers" and "pimping":

You still have Oklahoma State, Clemson, USC Trojans, and UCLA who have all played tougher teams than Ohio State and have looked very good.

I am OK, if someone wants to argue those teams. I put OSU, because they were leading the country in pts differential per drive going into this week. They are 1 of 4 teams to be top 10 in yards per play and yards per play allowed. They have comfortably won every game and have rolled the last 5. UCLA has an ugly S Bama game and OK State struggled at home this week

I totally disagree with your thought process and that is what I am pointing out. The teams that tend to struggle with games actually end up being tougher come post season than the ones that skate walk their schedule.

A great example was 2006 Florida who everyone wrote off because they won like 5-6 games by 7 points or less while Ohio State that year cleaned everyone's clocks. Florida ended up beating them 42-14.

This happens every year in fact, there is always that one team that blows everyone out and people rave about them but then they get into a real challenge and get beat. Blowouts don't grow your team from a maturity stand point.

I am not saying Ohio State is bad or anything. They were in my top 5 rankings and are a title contender. I even put them ahead of Alabama. However, they really haven't played a game yet that gives me any idea on whether they are a great team or not. I just haven't seen enough from them yet. They will get there if they continue to win.

It is funny the two extremes that I am arguing with online right now.

On Vol Nation, there are Tennessee fans claiming Tennessee should be top 5 and talking about how Michigan, Ohio State, and USC haven't played anyone. I am arguing we are fine at #8: Coaches Poll, Vols remain #8

On here, I am dealing with the same crap but from opposite perspective with the pro-Buckeye crowd (funny that neither are Ohio State fans).

It is the same song and dance every time.

I am going to say this, Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia have shown they can win at a high level the last 4-5 years. Until other programs step up and do that, I am going to respect these guys a little more. I am also not going to buy into my own Vols until they step up and win a few big games as well.

It isn't just an SEC thing. You don't see me pimping Ole Miss as a top 5 team for example (or Tennessee). I am going off how the teams play. Ohio State still hasn't even played a team on the level of Texas A&M (going off comment in your thread). I get that Texas A&M is 3-3 with that stupid loss to Appalachian State but they came to Tuscaloosa ready to play and they have tons of talent on that team. Ohio State hasn't gotten a game effort, IMO, from anyone not named Notre Dame yet. (I do think the Notre Dame was a good win, this is why I wasn't trolling Ohio State when Marshall beat Notre Dame).

At this point, you guys are coming off as more trolling than talking football. To many transitive property used that clearly doesn't work.
It doesn't help that this is the narrative with Ohio State every year and generally they end up getting beat. The one exception was 2014. I am going to need to see more before I rank Ohio State #1.

Sorry I posted this on my Volbound1700 account, guys. Forgot to log out.
