If MLB.com is doing an April Fools joke, they got me

Out of curiosity, I compared Lindor's 2020 stats to Brewers' SS Orlando Arcia's 2020. Lindor got more ABs than Arcia (Arcia typically bats in the bottom third of the lineup) so his totals were higher, but if you look at their averages their numbers were a push.

...Except salary... ...and Lindor's is doubled now!

Lindor’s WAR was considerably higher, but he definitely had a down year and everyone knows the Mets are where superstars go to die. It’s why all their best players this millennium were homegrown other than Cespedes, and look what a shit show that turned out to be

I do kind of worry about Lindor's power numbers dropping off from 2017-19 granted it wasn't a very long season . He didn't hit for much power before reaching the majors. FWIW, ZiPS and Steamer still project him to hit 30+ homers.

they're comparable, but we're still only talking 2 months performance. Arcia has a career 73 OPS+ and Lindor's is 117.

Lindor will be very good for a while here. But later on that contract is going to be absolutely dreadful.

To be clear, I'm not saying Arcia is a better baseball player than Lindor. I'm just saying Lindor has not exactly set the world on fire recently and the comparison to Arcia's production rings some alarms.
