Personally I think the Infield Fly Rule is stupid. My solution;

The infield fly rule should be changed. If an umpire calls infield fly rule (regardless of how many people are on base - change to rule), failure to catch the ball gives the batter first base and all other runners move up one base.

In my humble opinion Manny Machado made a smart play ... even if I don't like it.

My only beef with the infield fly rule is retards like Sam Holbrook impinge the left field line is allowed to call for one on a ball closer to the outfield wall than the infield dirt and not be publicly hanged

I know … part of the rule being dumb … make the infielder catch the ball. Seems illogical to me, which is why I posted this. Trying to understand the reason the rule is the way it is.
Runner on first, it’s no different than dropping a line drive

How about also assigning an error to the guilty fielder?

Technically now, you are completely correct. My proposal would be a pop up in the infield (with any runners or one runner on base) should be called infield fly rule. The umpire must call it first. The ball should reach an approximate height of 20 feet. Can not be challenged on replay.

I know my shit isn’t exactly tight, but I think you get my idea.

Again, just my opinion.

I don’t see it as an issue. Gonna be an out either way, if you don’t want to replace a fast runner with a slow runner, slow runner shouldn’t hit a pop up on the infield
