Idk…it just seems to me that once Stoops players left they went from destroying teams offensively in the Big12 to just surviving them.

It seemed Like OU was trending downwards. I still think he will succeed at USC because his reputation will bring in top recruits.

why do you think he jumped at the opportunity to get out of there. dude was going to be exposed. USC has had their expectations tempered with time so it will be easier to "succeed"

2017 Win the conference and lose close in the playoff
2018 Win the conference and lose big in the playoff
2019 Win the conference and get the shit beat out of us in the playoff
2020 Win the conference and not make the playoff
2021 Lose the conference and not make the playoff then quit

He literally regressed every year. He took over a talented roster when a HOF coach retired. He didn't have to build shit, and through it all, he never won a playoff game and lost to less talented teams every year.

He jumped to USC because he didn't want to be in the same conference as Bama.

I'm sure he'll be fine in the Pac and lose whenever he has to play a top team from a better conference.

I'd take Mark Stoops over Lincoln Riley any day.

I think Lincoln Riley is a good offensive coach but his system needs the right QB and the type he needs doesn't typically come from the West Coast. I think to be successful at USC long-term he is going to need to evolve his system.

Defensively he needs to find the best guy he can and leave him alone.

It was a smart move to go to the PAC because it's an easier path of conference championships and by the end of it that is probably what Riley is going to know for and not national championships. If can make some noise, put up some good records, win the PAC and make it to the playoffs here and there he should make it at least 6 to 7 years before USC gets frustrated. Won't matter he doesn't need another contract to be set for life and would probably make bank as a TV analyst.

I'm going to predict that Riley doesn't ever win a natty but I could be wrong.

Mark Stoops is underrated and I personally think Matt Luke was underrated as well and didn't deserve the boot from Ole Miss. If Stoops ever leaves Kentucky I think UK should at least talk to Luke as he would be perfect.

Before Stoops, Kentucky didn't have a 10 win season in my lifetime, they've now had 2 in the last 4 years.

Matt Luke has been a fine addition to the UGA staff. Don't think we could have got a better replacement for Pittman to coach the O-line.

I sense a pattern here

I will be surprised if he wins more than 2 conference titles by 2030 or when they let him go

A good Coach wouldn't have waited a full 2 years to do anything about the Defense.

Luke is the best line coach in the country when you add in recruiting, maturity, player relations, and everything else that goes into it.

Three titles in 9 years? I don't know will be interesting.

I say in 3 years he jumps to the NFL, before he has a chance to prove to everyone that he can't develop players. he will take the Coach Bro path and leave before he can be blamed for his schools trouble.

they won 4 games last season. not expecting a 1 year turn. maybe 2 but still unlikely. Utah UCLA Oregon all still looking like in better positions probably Arizona State too.

lol this guy has had 3 first round QBs, including 2 being the top QB picked. He's also had a 1st rd WR, OL, LB.... but he hasn't proved to being able to develop talent? C'mon man..

Baker was a Stoops recruit and already there when Riley got there. Murray and Hurts he got from other schools. The one guy he did recruit and was the #1 qb in the Country Spencer Rattler got benched for the season. And the other #1 recruit he got Caleb Williams got benched against Baylor and lost 2 of his last 3 Big 12 games.

lol

Looks like a bunch of worried folks in here trying to convince themselves.
