On the eye test, it seems like officiating in college football has been at times inconsistent or overly touchy. Is officiating worse this season? Vote and discuss.

Been an avid college football viewer since the mid-80s. Officiating is the worst of any time I've ever seen, & it really ain't close.
 
IMO yes.
 
I say yup. I have no idea what pass interference is anymore. I see defenders clotheslining receivers before the ball gets there. I see defenders never look back for the ball and drape themselves over the receiver. Bunch of jersey grabbing doesn't draw a flag, then other times, defenders breathe on the receiver hard, and a flag is thrown.
 
Cincy TT has one right now, QB slides, gets hit defensive player called for targeting / personal foul, review says no targeting and... no personal foul either :laugh: garbage
 
I’ve seen 3 phantom holding calls that stood out and they took away TD’s from teams this year.

There have been more bad ones as far as targeting, PI, ect. but those stood out to me as absolute garbage calls.
 
In the ND game the official called DPI and OPI at the same time on the same play. Unless it’s different WR and DB combos (it wasn’t) I don’t know how you do that.

We saw them in that ugly 2nd half of Colorado v Nebraska. It came out whereas that crew were poorly thought of in the PAC.
 
Ya gotta be better than we are to complain about the refs.

I had three TVs going this past Saturday and posting here a lot. I didn't see a single targeting being called. It could have happened in games I wasn't watching or I could have missed it at a certain time. I know they say holding could probably be called on every play. I know that defenders can jam receivers within the first five yards (I think). But when a defender has an arm draped across your chest before the ball gets there, or bats the receiver's hands out of the way before the ball gets there or never looks back for the ball, that seems like an easy call for the ref. I don't mean every one of these plays is easy to spot, but there are some that are glaring. So inconsistent from game to game. I have seen good blocks be called holding.
 
With the chance to stack up multiple playoff teams for conferences, we are going to see a lot of lopsided officiating in favor of the rated teams when in close games against teams that have no chance at the playoff.

So, does this mean when the officiating leads to who "should be" in the playoff, the officiating will become light years better in the playoff?
