Jags Lock Up Their LT

If you're building an NFL team, your first two picks (in order) are always best-available LT and best-available DE.

When a rebuilding team deviates from this, it almost never works out.

Absolutely. if you can lock down the OL and DL, you are all set. And you have to do that via the draft. The only OL that make it to the market are those asking too much money for their worth, no team lets a serviceable and cost-effective OL hit the market. If I were a GM I'd spend my first three rounds picking OL and DL every year. The NFL is full of QB's, WR's, TE's, and RB's picked in the 4th+ rounds.

I know it's not this simple, but I firmly believe that if I'd had the job and the resources, I could have been a much better GM for the Titans during the Ruston Webster years. When I was in Nashville I called into daily Titans radio show many times on 104.5 and one day I angrily made this claim and Blaine "The Hitman" Bishop challenged me on which decisions I would have made differently and I laid my case out and at the end Frank Wycheck asked me to leave my number so Amy Adams could give me a call. :biggrin:

It's absolutely mindblowing that NFL execs that can focus their entire life on an annual event like the NFL draft can fuck it up so horribly. Picks where even the dumbest drunken fans are left saying "WTF???"

I felt the same way for months. Sure looks like the Lions are taking him at 2 now.
