I know its tomorrow, but I just cant the get shit out of my head tonight. Watching my youngest graduate has really triggered this, and I just need to get it out there.
S. Secure your firearms away from children.
A. Ask about firearms being secured where your children visit.
F. Frequently talk to the children in your life about what to do if they, or a friend, find a gun.
E. Educate others about safe storage, and options that allow for quick access, but child safety.
Its been 8 years since Brooklynn was killed at her friends home, by her friend, with her dad's gun. She was 13. She would have been 21 this year, and in her 3rd year of college. All because her friends dad was ignorant, gave his daughter access to a firearm, and she made a bad choice. Like kids often do.
This is not to make you cunts feel bad for me, and I really don't want to hear how sorry anyone is. IDGAF about the pity party shit. I just want you to think for a minute about how you can make sure the kids in your life arent affected by this. Talk to them. Teach them. Be responsible about your guns, and appreciate whatever it is that you have.
I dont give a shit about your political views, I dont give a fuck about gun control, and I dont give a fuck what you own. Keep the shit out of the hands of kids, unless you are with them.
I taught my daughter about guns, and she was trying to usher her friends brother away from the gun when she was shot through her back. Through her spine, with a hollow point, and out through her heart and chest, riddled with shrapnel. If there was a trauma ER in the garage of that house, it wouldn't have mattered.
Too preventable to be acceptable, and still happens every day in this country somewhere.
Please just think about it, please.
