The Pittsburgh Pirates sit noticeably further east than the Atlanta Braves. They should be in the NL East & the Braves in the NL Central.

Detroit, Cleveland and Cincinnati are farther East than Atlanta.

But, fuck the central time zone. Braves got fucked enough by being put in the NL Wesr while the Cubs were in the East. That’s why the Braves have no historical rivals

it doesnt help that the Braves have relocated twice.

True, but even while the team was in Atlanta, we were in the same division as the Dodgers, Giants and Padres. Had we been in the East, the Mets could have been a natural rival since they were still a new franchise.

You carpetbaggers move every 10 minutes.

Yeah this doesn't make much sense. It would also make the Pirates and Phillies in the same division. This is actually a bit strange they did this. For some reason or another I could see Atlanta/St. Louis being a solid rivalry in the same division too. Must've been the Marlins that messed this up, Braves and Marlins in the East gave them a geographical opponent.

If you want your mind blown, realize Reno, NV is further West than L.A.

This thin red line doesn't take the globe curve into account.

Braves could have had a very solid rivalry with the Brewers. Honestly, I'd rather them be in the NL Central with the Brewers, Cardinals, Reds, & Cubs. Much more natural, old school rivalries there.

The NL Central teams are more of a "Midwest" grouping. Atlanta was, for many years, the only pro team in the southeast and just didn't fit anywhere.

Since we've gotten rid of the different DH rules, there's really no reason to keep the old NL/AL divisions. I can see a more radical realignment coming soon where teams are grouped more tightly geographically. Atlanta would be in a pod with Miami and Tampa but not sure who else.

Of course Colorado is on an island by themselves, they'll be tricky to place

I think MLB should expand to 32 teams, make 8 divisions of 4 teams. Play an unbalanced schedule, 8 division winners get the playoffs. Or shoot, go ahead and let 16 teams into the playoffs, seems they've been wanting to do that anyway

No more expansion, please. Perfect as is.
