How does Mack Brown age so gracefully?

Best coach in CFB currently.
 
1 year at North Carolina and they are already better than Texas.

UNC was a sleeping giant for a long time. Really no reason for them not to be good. Great location, great facilities, big brand, in the ACC, get rid of the basketball only school perception and Chapel Hill can be a football hotspot.

Most Texas fans I know regret basically pushing Mack Brown out of town. They aren't happy with 9 win seasons and they shouldn't be. Not with the amount of money that school generates.

Don’t forget decent recruiting grounds. Lots of talent in NC, VA and even SC if they can peel some kids from USCe and Clemson.

They have thebsame issue as Kentucky, Basketball first... football second or lower. They just don't care about football. Usually NC State has the best football teams.
 
The best thing about Mac Brown being on the sidelines is that he isn't driving us nuts commenting on TV. I hope he coaches forever.
 
As a Texas fan, the guy HAD TO GO.. his evaluations were crap, his roster was depleted. After he lost Colt vs Bama, for whatever reason he thought the way to compete was to go 3 yd and a cloud of dust.. and he tried to implement that with a roster that was suited for the Spread.. in a state where the spread was king. He would have never figured it out had he stayed at Texas.. he said so himself.. Working at ESPN made him realize how much the game had changed.. Reason why you see him hiring a spread OC. The time out re-energized him, and he hit UNC on the ground running.

I still have the bad taste of him telling his class of 2014 that he would find them a better place at a team dinner during a recruiting weekend. Mack was solid in this first 12 seasons at Texas but the last 4 were really, really bad with his hiring, recruiting and the fact that AD Dodds was also on the way out. Program hit the bottom with the hiring of Steve Patterson as AD, who hired Charlie and did him no favors with the lack of support financially for the staff he initially wanted to hire (said no to Chad Morris who was OC at Clemson, said no to Clint Hurtt who was on his staff at UL)

Tom Herman with all jokes and losses to MD twice, has reshaped this roster with talent. Texas now with a real AD in CDC supporting him throughout the process, is ready to win the conference more than ever since probably 2013? (which was a bad year in the conference).

So yes Mack is good, but pump the breaks if you really think he has this school ready to win a conference title. He had a great run in the 90's as well there and you know what they said? He just can't win the big one no matter what..(vs FSU). They said the same thing when Stoops jedi mind tricked him from 99-2004. Yes he came close last season vs Clemson, but y'all willing to bet they win this year at Clemson?

I call BS. The vast majority were happy to see him go and still realize his run was over. He left Texas a complete dumpster fire. He was 18-17 in conference his last 4 seasons. He is far from a good coach, but the SOB can recruit. He will always have talent.

UNC leads the all-time series with NC State by almost 30 games

and NC State is basketball first too
