MLB may have a deal in place.......

Sounds like one of the last big things left is the cbt. But deadline has been extended to 5 today for games not be missed.

Seems kind of silly for an arbitrary deadline. I get there is breaking point but if the meetings are productive not like Thursday is any different than Tuesday

My guess is its pressure from MLB to get the union to cave. But definitely silly since they said yesterday was the hard deadline. Now we're saying today?

The owners suck. Didn't negotiate for a month and a half despite their mouthpiece going on the record and claiming that cancelling games would be a disaster.

And then just this week said that they were willing to miss up to a month of games.

I think both sides have blame. But the owners definitely have been the bigger assholes in all this

You would think the owners had anchored high enough on this cap (it’s a cap) to negotiate. And maybe they have, but they just haven’t been able to meet on it yet through negotiation (because had there really been much of that?)

Not sure if what I read on this this morning is the latest but if the owners are still sitting on a cap that’s so decoupled from revenue growth then they are indeed the morons they have been cast as.

Outside of Opening Day, I believe for sure that the owners don't mind missing April gates and then being able to pay less to the players.

Oh for sure. Missing a months worth of games would easily be worth it if it means they can screw over the players for years.

Whenever they do get a deal done, free agency and trades are going to be fun to watch in the coming days.

Did Jeets die on the Miami cross for this CBA?

Even putting aside the future, this year it will all be pro-rated and they won't have to pay the players for the regular season games not played. In the short-term the owners won't care about losing half a season's games as long as they still have a full/expanded playoffs.

I suspect that his "vision" for the franchise borrowed from his Yankee experience a lot and he discovered finally that the Marlins can't just use the same model to build a team. But I have no idea, of course.

Between 2020 and this, I’m really starting to hate my favorite sport. I’ll still watch, but all my enthusiasm is gone
