Anyone like into the new streaming app yet? Just released the start of this month.

On the plus….this is positive. The league is taking more control over their content. I can only hope this leads to a solution in the future where you pay a reasonable rate to get YOUR teams games on the app, and not have to pay out the ass for all games from a satellite provider.

What it is right now…$4.99 a month to watch any local market game, $9.99 a month if you want all games as condensed replays.

For me….for now….no thanks. But I hope as time goes on and agreements end this will be where you can get your teams games. My self avowed internet piracy would drop by a major margin in such a case.

Please... explain more about this.

I'm only interested in out of market games. What's the difference between this and the free app they had before?

It’s been mentioned here (and the old Hoop) by me many many times. Unless they are waiting to spring the trap yet I don’t think these two are listening.

$5 a month…..

But, I’ve read more serious comments from the league of taking more control of their content going forward. So I’m hopeful this is the vehicle that will be used and just get better when they can offer more with it.

Hell I'd probably do $9.99 for a glorified NFL Network app if it included every game. Keep the channel's content and find a way to make every game available and they have a winner.

I would go twice that to have every game until I start to question it. Of course, I’m presuming I can just shut it off during the off-season.

Hell I wouldn't even mind if I couldn't shut it off (depending on price). Plenty of draft/free agency stuff and the NFL Top 10 lists are generally interesting.

Im presuming this thing is what it is at this point because of previous agreement like D-tv.

Just hopeful this is gearing up for when those expire.

They can’t afford to do that. Amazon is going to pay them 3 billion a year to air games they’ve already sold to the networks once. Too much money left on the table.

I thought it was still in a bidding war, but no one was up to $3B the NFL asked for. I bet Apple goes for it.

It is still up for grabs. I think Apple gets close because they need it to grow their subscription base and there aren't that many guaranteed options for doing that. If I'm in charge of Apple programming I do what I can to close this NFL deal and then I start talks with Peacock to purchase the WWE rights (because they are a sinking ship and that deal could help lower the bleeding).

If they don't do some new deals to drive subscriptions there isn't a whole lot that is going to get people to watch. We've had it for a year because we got it free and we have watched a handful of shows but only two of them we loved but it's not enough to start actually paying the subscription so we aren't. I'm betting we are not alone and Apple is either going to have to keep giving their service away for free or find ways to keep people in the fold.

Apple would likely go a Hulu like route with free, freemium, and then premium plans. But I think all of these streamers know that scripted content is hit or miss and can only carry you so far, see Netflix. Getting live sports is a good way to grow and then keep subscribers.

Well, shit, it’s just as likely as anything that this new NFL app is just a signal to streamers to pay their price or they will just keep their content.
