Non-sports NIL

Had to be a QT, they sold Quitting Time beer.

No, but the band doesn't play for money, either. Amateur musicians akin to amateur athletes? Hell, I don't know. Imagine if band members unionized and the universities had to pay union scale. Do you think the UW will let him wear their logo without compensation?

I report, you decide.
but while a football player coulndt go sign things and sell them or play football outside the college team for money, there was nothing stopping the band members from going to the local bars and playing for money and even advertising as members of the schools band.

In that case they would just do away with the band. Double win because then that's more seats to sell. I enjoy the band, but if they are going to ask for a cut of the gate, see ya.
I'll pass. I'm happy with the easy A, free trips around the country and not sleeping in tents for student tickets 🙂

Are you sure, or just guessing?

This. There's no competitive marching band in college, so there's no advantage in out recruiting another school for saxophone player and so on. As long as you're not using school equipment (you don't want to be liable for any damage), there's definitely some good gigs out there to get some quick cash. Kudos to this kid for the hustle

mostly a guess but i dont see how this is any different than an art student selling their art
NIL came about due to NCAA. this stopped athletes from making money while being on a team. the same rules dont apply to anyone else.

Seems logical, but I don't remember any specific instances besides a few models.

Is Marching band a class or an extra-curricular? Are they limited? IDK.
