What really pisses me off is in the post game presser he wanted Audric to go down at the 1 and run the clock out and kick the fg. Duke had all its TO’s at that point so they would have had to run 3 plays anyway.

That’s insane. You are losing. You take the points. Too many bad things can happen on a FG even from the 1. Bad snap bad hold college kicker choke. A block. If you’re down 1 and wide open end zone you take the ducking points and God help you if your defense can’t hold them for :31. They would have needed a TD to win.

Sorry Marcus but you’re overthinking this. If you were up by less then a TD that strategy makes sense. Not when you’re down and a mishap will cost you the game.

Freeman wanted to do exactly what Matt Nagy did Against the eagles in the playoffs. It extremely stupid strategy. Take a 5 pt lead with 30 seconds left every single time

They did pass on first down and it was incomplete preserving Duke's timeouts. They wanted to run two plays leaving Duke with one time out and around 15 seconds. Duke's defense was in Hartman's face all day long. A lot could have gone wrong.

As it turned out the Duke had a short yardage defense on and estime broke through it and scored a touchdown. can't argue with success.

On some fan boards they’re already calling for his head not because he’s unlikeable (he’s not) but because this is his first head coaching gig and ND isn’t the kind of place for on the job training. But a lot of those people are insufferable pure Id types who I’d the internet were around as widespread as it is now they’d be calling for Holtz’s head in ‘89 too after the Miami game.

I still think he can grow and become better. He recruits at a higher level than his predecessor.

Hating Brian Kelly isn’t an excuse for not wanting to shit can Freeman but if he goes 9-3 or better he’s not going anywhere.
