It was discovered just this last December and was given a 1% chance of hitting earth.
By early this month (Feb 7th) that probability had grown to 2.3%.
As of today it's reached a probability of 3.1%.

If it does strike Earth, it's not gonna hit anywhere useful - like Putin's bunker or Hollywood; it'll splash in the middle of the Indian Ocean and cause about $2.85 of damage from the tidal waves that reach land.

And I'm okay with wiping out a few Packer fans, too - as long as it's the dumb ones that think LaFleur and Gutekunst should be fired because the Packers haven't won a Super Bowl in the Love era yet.

Dropped the odds to just over 1% yesterday. Somehow the numbers have been revised 3 times in the last like 5 days. Gonna be a LONG next 7 years if they fuck with the numbers every day.

Smells like a "look we are working, don't defund us" move. Don't disagree with it, we need to put MORE into NASA not less, but stinks of desperation.
 
 
I'm not worried. Whoever is president at the time will sign an EO that asteroids aren't allowed to hit Earth and we will be fine.
