Those metal slides were also much faster, so you could go flying down them at like 40mph and decapitate a toddler when you launch off the end. Those were the days!

And I don't remember the metal slides electro charging you so your hair stood up.

We had one in our back yard, but the railings were wood. Dad had to make sure they were sanded up real good each spring, because those splinters were fucking horrible.

You can still do that if you sit on a tray when you go down the slides in the McDonald’s playgrounds.
