One of my buddies talked me into joined his 20 dollar bracket challenge deal

Knowing your limitations is a good thing.
I'll take a shot in the dark on these things for money. I came damn close to winning far larger groups in HS while not watching roundball even back then.

I’m in one that was 400 or 500 people. $20 buy-in. Haven’t looked at how I am doing but I know I went 23-8. Had Ohio St in the Elite 8 and didn’t pick a couple other upsets. 1st place gets around $5K. I probably have no chance at this point. The top 10 get paid out but the top 2 is like 90% of the pot. Big money

I’m screwed either way. Some jackass made his bracket trying for last place money, and he’s got that locked up. But the good thing is, I don’t have to bother keeping up with roundball anymore
Georgia has always reminded me of PSU when it came to basketball. Hella good talent in a major city (Atlanta), that they never seem to get.

I've never been a basketball fan, but UGA's lack of basketball success is pretty puzzling. A solid program in most every other sport. Good football program, solid baseball program, elite golf, tennis and gymnastics programs, but rarely even make the NCAAT in basketball.

I agree I’m seriously shocked by it. They aren’t in the toughest of leagues for basketball and the metro Atlanta area has damn good talent. I guess you can put it on coaching some but it’s not like they’ve had completely awful coaches All the time. Crean isn’t bad and I never thought Fox was completely terrible. But I don’t know fully.

The funny thing is, UGA's most iconic basketball moment of my lifetime was winning the SEC tournament in upset fashion over a decade ago to make the NCAAT where they were promptly bounced in the first round. A lot of people say that was the worst thing to ever happen to the program because that got the coach, who wasn't well thought of at all an extra couple of seasons and set the program back in doing so.

Georgia Tech is Atlanta's team when it comes to basketball.

They haven’t been great ethier. It’s still shocking UGA doesn’t get some of that top talent in Atlanta.

they haven't been great since 2008ish, but they have more going for them from a basketball perspective than UGA does. GT is in Atlanta, plays more high-profile opponents on an annual basis, has better facilities + has a much better history. Georgia Tech has been one of CBB's most underachieving programs in the past fifteen years.

fwiw, Georgia Tech has won more ACC titles in less time than notable basketball school Maryland.
