This. The terms are when they cease operations. My guess is never because if it comes to it they take enough G5 teams from the Mountain West and the "Pac 12 brand" continues but if it's when they stop being a viable P5 brand I'm gonna go with around noon tomorrow at this point.

Seems like it's trending that way. A natural division of a 20 team B10 will truly actually be East/West divisions.

East: Rutgers, Maryland, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois
West: Northwestern, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, USC, UCLA, Washington, Oregon, Stanford, Cal

I think it makes sense for travel purposes and the teams kind of balance out based on that geography. I guess they could just continue on keeping no divisions (which is what starts in 2024) and select the top 2 teams to play in the conference title game. It allows a bit more freedom to schedule.

Fair thought. Wisconsin has long-standing trophy rivalries with Minnesota and Iowa; those are too big of a deal to break up unless it's 100% necessary - and it isn't. Northwestern is also a better geographical fit to join the division that includes Illinois and the Indiana schools.
