As recession fears mount, Comcast becomes the latest to deliver a bleak earnings picture, with its streaming service Peacock stuck firm on 13 million subscribers, despite spending over $2 billion a year on content.

We are about to see the first to fall. That’s a 2 billion toilet flush you’re hearing.

They don't do a good job pimpin exclusive content

I'll keep it as long as English Premier League there....if it is still there. Should move it to ESPN+.

Verizon plans to drop OANN on July 31.

I think the majority of the subscribers are WWE or Soccer people.

I have it simply for the Office and House. I only watch the WWE PPV's. Their other content doesn't interest me.

Every NBC-Universal film/TV series ever made (with the exception of stuff having exclusive contracts with other services) needs to be made available on Peacock, not just a few Universal films as is currently done.

Plus NBC needs a bigger colllege football presence beyond Notre Dame, with some big college games only available on Peacock.

Peacock lays a goose egg? Goes against nature.

You Got Me GIF by HULU

I think House is on Prime and on Hulu there are at least 2 channels that run the Office almost constantly.

You should cancel.

Agree. And with YoutubeTV (which isn't great, just pointing it out) their on demand stuff is pretty kick ass. I've been rewatching Always Sunny and they have every single episode and can skip schedules. I imagine most shows are that way, including the office.

And I think Peacock will be just the first streamer to crash. Everyone rushed to get in on the streaming game, but not all had the technical ability to do it right or the library to make it valuable. Discovery seems to have enough content, but I think even they will struggle eventually.

I just hope that when the Bally Sports streaming app comes out they lose their shirt and have to go Chapter 7 within 12 months. Fuck those guys.

I also hope they all die painful deaths. Fuck Bally.

The problem is they paid big money on the WWE streaming content because that was their strategy to boost subscriptions and it worked. However, those people signed up and then it flatlined.

They have a valuable asset in the WWE so the big question is who is going to buy it?

Before someone pulls the trigger they need to figure out what the overlap is.
- Prime I would bet the overlap is well over 50%
- Paramount probably has less than 25% but NBC probably won't sell to another network
- Disney isn't a player on this as it doesn't fit their model
- Apple should be a player but there are moves I thought they should have made and haven't (this is the most mismanaged of all the streaming services IMO)
- HULU could be a really good home but the ties to Disney and ABC might put them in the same boat as Paramount

You go through the list and the two best players without conflict are Prime and Apple so I think we are probably going to see the WWE eventually go to Prime but they are going to get a good deal on it. If Apple was smart they would bid aggressively but again they have passed on what I thought were some obvious moves in the past.

Good. Maybe they won’t fuck with any ND games this fall.
