According to reports from ESPN, the NFL is going virtual with it. Instead of an actual Pro Bowl, it will now be a Madden 21 tournament that will air on live TV. No, we are not kidding. This is actually happening, and I am just as shocked about it as you are.

So, here is the rundown, according to the article on ESPN:
  • Deshaun Watson, Derrick Henry, Keyshawn Johnson and Snoop Dog will represent the AFC
  • Kyler Murray, Jamal Adams, Marshawn Lynch and Bubba Wallace will represent the NFC
  • Each participant gets one five-minute quarter using official AFC/NFC rosters
  • The event will air on EA Madden NFL Twitch channel, plus NFL’s social media accounts
  • It will be hosted by Charissa Thompson and Michael Strahan
  • Gamers such as Ninja, FaZe Swagg, AustinShow and AMP will host watch parties for it

I have no idea why this has me interested (and it shouldn't) but I kinda want to see this.

The NFL should just pull the plug on the Pro Bowl.

Perfect.

I never watch it anyway.

Now even less reason to.

Someone could run a betting pool on how long it would take you to walk away in disgust, and it would probably garner more interest.

They have to have these guys hooked up to each other and the smack talk has a lot of promise. I’m going to give it a try to see if it’s entertaining.

Will this be televised on MTV as "Rock N' Jock Football 2021"?

Probably more entertaining than an actual pro bowl

Here's a link to an episode of "Madden Nation" which already tried this:

Celebrities and players add enough interest to get through maybe half an episode.

When the pandemic first started and there were no sports, we’d run simulations on various sports video games on a one of the host’s consoles and bet on the winners. We were pretty hard up

They took a who gives a shit game and made it even worse............iffen that's possible.

And so the downward spiral of civilized world begins. ESports is replacing a real sporting event.

They have always been major Madden tournaments around SB time and had NFL players Madden tournaments in the past. Games can be fun to watch but this is more for the Madden crowd, most football fans trying to watch get disappointed because of the unrealistic play calling

I’ve never watched a single snap of the Pro Bowl.
