PSU isn't running away from the Paterno family? wtf

I have some good friends that are PSU alums. It's absolutely astounding how they still view JoPa favorably. It's like they have no idea how the rest of the country sees him. Completely tone deaf.
Hard for some people to rationalize when someone they admired turned out to be a monster. I didn't stop being a huge Chipper Jones fan when he killed that illegal Messican

I hope Ped State loses every competition until the end of time

Officer Joe Paterno of the Pennsylvania State Police... oh wait. That wasn't his title.

All the haters can blow Jay Paterno. He was a shitty football coach, much like his dad past 1996.

Only took them nine years to kick Sandusky off campus after they knew he ass raped kids.

Surprised it took eleven to let this old lady back in.

PSU from 97-99 lost 3 games in each of those seasons while finishing ranked each time. Only two of those loses in that time were to teams that’s finished unranked. Joepa still had it. Things physically and mentally went down hill in the early 2000’s.

They gave everything to that university. Sue has buildings named after her there and helped fund a faith center among many other things.

I get the hate for JoPa, but it's hard to blame her for anything that happened to those kids. Feels a bit too cancel cultureish to me.

Showing video of Joe? Yeah, that's still a bit too much IMO.

One of my kids went there. Joe had passed on before he ever got on campus. Doesn't have any connection to either and doesn't cheer or stand up for anything related to him. Said none of the kids stood up for him while he was there. Seemed a lot more about the older alumni, but he can't possibly speak for everyone at the school.

Sometimes I randomly think about some Penn State fan radio host in Pittsburgh who last year said on air and I shit you not "Sandusky did a lot of good things for underprivileged youth" with a hint of irony or self-realization.

He very likely did. It's a big part of how he got away with it for so long.

those 97-99 teams just collapsed at the end of the season. Ranked or not, those teams knew what Old Joe was going to throw at them and he couldn't win on talent alone like earlier in each of those seasons.

2000-2004 were pretty bad for them (26-33) but 2005-2010 (Joepa last full season) weren't so bad (58-19)
