Been thinking about this for awhile and going to try to explain what is in my head the best I can. The 4 team playoff with the current conferences seems to "work out". Still haven't had a two loss team make the 4 team playoff.

Now, what if the 4 team playoff was kept, but the conference realignment changed as planned next season?

The B1G and SEC are gaining good to great teams that ain't just fluff. I am thinking that these two realigned conferences (next season and beyond) will have even the best teams finishing with 2-3 losses at times because of the depth among other factors.

So, NEXT SEASON with the 4 team playoff, let's just say that the
ACC has an undefeated Florida State team
SEC has a 2 loss Alabama team & a 1 loss Georgia team
B1G has a 1 loss Ohio State team & a 2 loss Southern Cal team
BIG XII has an undefeated Houston team

What would happen? We know how weak the ACC and BIG XII will be compared to the SEC and B1G. Would two loss teams from the SEC (especially if good losses) be "in" over the ACC and BIG XII undefeated teams? Hope I explained that good enough.

I don't think theyd put a 2 loss team over a undefeated ACC team. (Especially FSU or Clemson)

Now a Big 12 team I could see it happening though.

The conference realignment never happens without the expanded playoff so I don’t follow you.

I was thinking the same thing also, but just a "what if" discussion.

I had the same thought, but now with these good to great teams coming into new conferences, I wasn't sure. It isn't like the B1G added Washington State and Cal. And not like the SEC added Texas Tech and Baylor. SEC and B1G are already the best two conferences, and now the teams they have coming in, I just thought that would possibly give them the benefit of the doubt when, say Alabama has one loss in season and one loss to say UGA in the conference championship. I was just thinking that would be more worthy than what could be done in the ACC even with an undefeated team, but like you said, not Clemson or Florida State.

It's all about the name and who brings the most money, we all know that. it's not how it should be, but it is.

If the undefeated ACC team was like fucking Wake Forest you know they would be arguing keeping them out to no end.

The Big 12 just doesn't have any name power left. Any of those teams would face a uphill battle getting into a 4 team playoff.

Yeah, they wouldn’t WANT Wake but I don’t see how they are kept out if they beat FSU Clemson UNC Miami etc. Same could be said for Mississippi State, though Ripping through the SEC.

And no question UNC or Miami get in if undefeated and nobody raises a stink.
