Realtor in Austin TX Area?

Talking about a 3 year project. Lots of upgrades can be made without going broke on building materials. i don’t think he’s interested in a Flip or Flop scenari.

It depends on the level of construction he's planning though. Minor upgrades are probably safe. If you're gutting the place or re-doing an entire room floor to ceiling you're likely to run into issues. But prices are up a ton across the board on everything small to large. And even something that seems simple like say getting new doors or fixtures have long delays. Just need to be aware that anything above small work, you're probably gonna be sinking many more dollars into it than you would have pre-pandemic. If he's there for 3 years, it could be beneficial to put off upgrades for the 1st year to allow for material and construction costs to come down.

Man...3 years might be risky for anything other than a place that will be significant remodels.

After this hurricane good luck getting even plywood without having to go to the blood bank first.

My son is moving to Austin area for 3 years while his fiancé finishes her Dr of Physical Therapy degree. He would like to buy a fixer upper to keep busy on and make some money on. Anyone know of a good realtor in the area?

What did he end up doing?

Fiance is there now living at her Mom's place. My son is working on finding work there and downsizing. He has a '05 GTO he needs to sell.

He's going to wait on selling his place here in Colorado until the end. At least they can stay with her Mom until they find the right situation.

I do not sadly but if he is only going to be there for 3 years perhaps he'd be better off renting?

What did he end up doing?
He’s been living in Canyon Lake area for the past month w/fiance’s family. Been driving 3.5ish hours RT to work in Austin (same with his fiancé). His home here in Colorado sold in less than a week and he’s closing on a nice place in Kyle on Dec 28th. They are happy the commute is coming to an end.

Good job and nice house. Hopefully he moves back to Colorado when Fiancé is done with school, but with his new job, we have our doubts.

Anything in Texas is going to be EXPENSIVE to buy. Rent for 3 years and end up saving money.

I have been real lucky in house purchasing. Both of my married houses were bought during a depressed market. Paid about 80% of listing price on the first and less than 75% on the second. Almost felt bad for the sellers.
