Technically, Texas doesn’t control its own destiny to a Sugar Bowl win.

Who here can articulate why and how?
 
You need to win out and need Oklahoma to lose 2x.

Or

You need to win out and Oklahoma get selected to CFP.

Wrong. Just very wrong. We’re talking the scenario where Texas wins out and doesn’t get selected to the Sugar. I know you’re only a Sooner, but I’m sure you can think of it. You’re not an Aggy or anything

If you win out? The only way you don't make the sugar by winning out is getting selected to the cfp. :spit: not happening

There’s a scenario where Texas wins out and still doesn’t get selected to the Sugar.

No dunce. Winning out makes you conference champ which goes to the sugar unless picked for cfp.

If conference champ gets picked for cfp then runner up goes to sugar.

Texas winning out does not make them runner up nor does or make them 3rd place.

Im guessing it has sonething to do with the bowl selection order and process? I know in 2002 the Orange Bowl used a little used rule to allow them to select Iowa ahead of the Rose Bowl selecting them ( Oklahoma went to the Rose thar year )

Not sure the specifics but i know there are processes in place where bowls xan use exceptions every few years to select teams who would otherwise be bound to othet bowls

If thats not it then fuck if i know

Nah. No Bowl selection exceptions nor rained out games that don’t get played nor ncaa sanctions. There’s actually one real scenario where Texas misses out even if Texas wins out.
