Which coach's success was more impressive with their programs? Snyder and what he did at Kansas State or Beamer with what he did at VT?

Oklahoma was never a top ten team when Snyder played them every year during his first stint. Shit, by the time Snyder turned it around at K-State, Oklahoma kind of sucked. Not sure who VT played in conference, but Kansas State played two Top 10 teams every year in Oklahoma and Nebraska, then later on, Texas.
Someone can probably fill in the blanks on VT and their power conference opponents at the time.
FSU was already on a clear decline by the time VT joined in 2004.Man great debate. Great one.
Virginia Tech with Beamer:
Kansas State did play in a tougher conference but while VT was in the Big East they did have to deal with a great Miami team, then deal with Florida State in the ACC. The run of 23 consecutive bowl games sort of seems impressive, but they never won two in a row under Beamer (I might be off here, but it didn't happen much at all). The undefeated regular season where the beat the common opponents by more than Florida State did. He is man candidate Michael Vick and Corey Moore won the Lombardi and Nagurski awards.
Kansas State with Snyder:
Man what he did in Manhattan. Totally unreal. So many bad seasons and then Michael Bishop comes aboard. So close to a BIG XII title and BCS title appearance before losing to Texas A&M. Big XII champions in 2003 after thrashing #1 Oklahoma. Kansas State was ranked #1 a few times under Snyder.
So close to call, but what Snyder did with an awful K State team gives him the close nod in this one.
A decline? They won 9 or more games from 2011-2016 and won 59 games from 2012-2016 and a BCS National championship. Now, annually K State did have tougher opponents.FSU was already on a clear decline by the time VT joined in 2004.
K-State did play tougher opponents annually. Interesting it was the combination of Nebraska + Colorado and not Nebraska + Oklahoma that made the schedule difficult.
Their decline was from 2004ish to 2009. Which was the same VT had their peak in the ACC.A decline? They won 9 or more games from 2011-2016 and won 59 games from 2012-2016 and a BCS National championship. Now, annually K State did have tougher opponents.
Oh ok. I thought "clear decline" meant ongoing. What about the 2010 ACC championship where the Hokies beat a Jimbo Fisher led Noles team under Beamer. Even though the Hokies lost both, they did play Alabama and Southern Cal (I think both were #1). And I agree they didn't play every other year, that is why I feel Kansas State had tougher opponents each season.Their decline was from 2004ish to 2009. Virginia Tech sucked from 2012 until Beamer retired, so your cute stat from 2012-2016 is meaningless. and uh, FSU and VT have never played each other every year. VT really didn't have to deal with FSU at all outside of 2004 and that weird 2005 conference title game.
Sure. 2005 and 2010 were the only years where a prime VT had to deal with a passable FSU team. Even then, I wouldn't call 2010 FSU team great. They lost four games, including an anal raping by Oklahoma and two losses against tobacco road teams. They rose up seven spots in the finals poll after they beat an over-rated South Carolina team in the Peach Bowl. Finished #16 nationally.Oh ok. I thought "clear decline" meant ongoing. I will be honest, and I wrote an article on a small online sports column a long time ago. When VT joined the ACC, I predicted them never winning the ACC. I just felt mostly that Miami and the Noles would be too much. Had no idea that those two teams would collapse (according to their normal standards) and that Clemson would stop Clemsoning.
Who could have seen that it is 2022 and Miami has never won the ACC.I will be honest, and I wrote an article on a small online sports column a long time ago.
