I'm early in season 3 on my first watch. I started this journey with Clone Wars. I was told to watch Clone Wars up until the final season, do Rebels and finish it off with Clone Wars.

Two months ago I had my issues with the 3rd trilogy but at this point I want to eject them from cannon. The Mandalorian was great at introducing characters from either series and watching it I'm like where the fuck were Tano or Bridger in anything after the prequel trilogy?

The original series I get. That was awesome and you can't fault Lucas for not including something that hadn't been created yet but fuck the last 3 would have benefited greatly if they focused on a grizzled angry Hera or Tano.

So you're digging it, right? That's definitely the order to watch it in. The Mandalorian will now make a lot more sense as well with certain parts of it

Yup. You understand why Ahsoka is searching for Thrawn. You understand who Thrawn is. You understand the history of the Dark Saber, and Bo-Katan’s history regarding it. You understand more about Boba’s back story and you get more of his motivations.

Yeah. I just watched the episode where Sabine recovers the darksaber. I can totally get how people jumped out of their seats when it appeared on The Mandalorian.

Me: oohhh Obi Wan vs Maul. This is going to be good.

Ok so maybe this gets answered before I get caught up on everything, but why was Sabine Wren able to just hand over the Dark Saber to Bo Kattan, but when Din Djarin tries to do the exact same thing, it's like nah, we gotta fight to the death. With Sabine and Bo, they both have a legit claim at being the rightful leader, but Din is just a random dude in the hierarchy of their people.

Also hopefully we get to see some live action Thrawn. I'm kinda getting to the point where Star Wars TV shows are superior to the movies. I think this universe is is better served on the small screen at this point. And fuck JJ Abrams and Rein Johnson. Disney should have put Filoni in charge and told him to seek advice from Feige but just go with it.

It has been a while since I have seen Rebels, so I can’t answer with definite confidence, but Mando took the blade on his own. No one else could claim credit for that.

As for Filoni, I think I read something a month or so back stating that he and Favreau were the co-universe runners now, and that Lucas actually has a seat at the table (no final say, but he has their ears). I saw in one place, but was unable to confirm, that the sequels were going to be re-edited by this team as well. Though, since I have not heard anything else about this, I doubt it’s accuracy.

Sabine took it on her own, but Maul had already peaced out from the ghost witches so she didn't defeat him. She definitely took control of it when she defeated the governor though. She bested him in combat just like Din did with Moff Gideon. It seems like the same situation to me. Someone who earned it in combat decided someone more worthy should wield it and in both situations it was the exact same person they were handing it over to.

But we are talking about Mandalorians here and they are basically Dothraki with cool technology so who really knows what rules apply to their leadership.

It may fall under Star Wars’ stated canon tiering...

Movies are tier 1
Anything else live action is tier 2
Animated tv is tier 3
Anything written after Disney is tier 4
Anything written before Disney is tier 5

Not sure where video games lie. I think they are considered “written”.

Since Mandalorian would fall into t2, that trumps Rebels, which is t3, so the Mandalorian is “accurate”

Fucking jedi Direwolves show up here. I'm not happy with Kannan dying but holy shit

That was an absolutely beautiful finale.

I'm actually starting my 2nd rewatch. My kids (8 and 4) never got into Star Wars. I tried New Hope because that is a natural start but no interest. Tried Clone Wars because it's a cartoon but nope. Phantom Menace caught the younger ones attention because fucking jar jar binks but still nope. But the other morning the TV had Disney on and I threw the Rebels shorts on for them to have something to watch while I got in the shower. They were captivated and by the time we had to leave for school we were on second 1 episode 2. We are now to episode 10 and my oldest has questions. So yeah this might be the spark.
