It came up from Texas and will stall over Oklahoma City tonight, giving us about 1/2" of ice and then 6" of snow on top of that.
Sucks for tonight, but at least we don't have to go anywhere.

Probably lose power again though.
 
When I went out to get my paper this morning...there was some ice on the car window and there was frost on the lawn decorations.

Snow on top of ice always sucks.

Why do you guys lose power? Is it just your power grid isn't built for that shit? I live in cold as fuck WI and I don't think we've lost power from a winter storm in about a decade.

1/2" ice sucks anywhere. Even worse if you don't build prepared for it.

We'd probably lose power for a little bit with that much ice

If I had a nickel for every time they said we were gonna get 1/2 inch of ice but only got 1/4 inch, I'd have a shitload of nickels.

I don't think I've ever seen a true 1/2 inch of ice ... unless it's on a lake.

In the older parts of the City, all of the Electricity is above ground, and probably isn't kept up that well.
So when an Ice Event comes thru, it really fucks with things, and being in the older parts of the City, there's a shit ton of older trees that get hammered.

It's the only thing I can come up with.

Just got here. Ice is starting to fall and streets are getting slick. Was just outside walking my dog and watching all the drunks slide all over the place. People here don't know how to drive is this shit.
